about this route

This Langtang Valley trek gives you the opportunity to explore Nepal's natural beauty with its breathtaking Himalayas. The trail is easy to reach as it is quite nearby the capital of Kathmandu. However is it quite near the city, it is a great region with many opportunities to explore the rural and mountainous areas of Nepal.

Our Langtang Valley trek begins in Kathmandu. However, after a 6 to 7 hours drive we reach the real starting point. Syabru Besi is a small traditional village on the bank of the Bhote Kosi river. From here we start walking. Our trail slowly attains elevation as we make our way through rhododendron, bamboo and oak forests along the way. Finally, when we reach Langtang Valley we get the chance to explore Sherpa villages and visit beautiful Kyanjin Gompa (3798m). Here we get a chance to peek at the lifestyle of spiritual Buddhist monks.

mountain view

If the weather is clean, we are greeted by several majestic mountains along the way. Together these mountains form the famous Langtang mountain range with Ganesh Himal (7110m) and Langtang II (7230m).

alternative route

Looking for a more challenging trek in Langtang? Take a look at our 12-day Langtang Valley trek via Ganja La pass. Mainly both treks are similar. But this alternative route is a bit more adventurous as we cross the mountain pass Ganja La (5200m).

Are mountain lakes making you more excited? Langtang also offers a beautiful trek to the holy lake of Gosainkund, a pilgrimage destination for Hindu's. Check our 8 day Gosainkund trek or the extended 15 day Gosainkund Helambu trek in which we cross two mountain passes as well.

On my very first day in Nepal, back in 2013, I met Govinda and we've been best (!) friends ever since. Govinda and I have been on quite some treks in Nepal together and traveled in Sir Lanka and Europe as well. And now we also work together with by Mountain People. Back in the Netherlands I take care of the website and I am always planning a next stay in Nepal. But hey ... what are you up to? :)
