The Poon Hill trek is a typical short trek. However, it offers you amazing views over the Annapurna mountains from the viewpoint of Poon Hill (3210m). On the day of going to the highest point of this trek, we set off early morning. As a result, we have a breathtaking panorama view when the sun rises above the Annapurna's.

Most noteworthy along this trek are the views over:

  • Tukuche (6920m)
  • Nilgiri (6940m)
  • Annapurna South (7219m)
  • Hiunchuli (6441m)
  • Tarke Kang (7193m)

This trek even includes views over both worlds 7th highest mountain Dhaulagiri I (8167m) and the 10th highest mountain Annapurna I (8091m).

At the end of this trek you can relax in Pokhara. After that we bring you back to Kathmandu and show you impressive UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu.

Early morning we pick you up at your hotel at 6:30 am and bring you to the bus station. Since the bus to Pokhara leaves around 7:30 am. Pokhara is located in a beautiful valley set on the banks of the Phewa Lake. The city is also known for its panoramic views. For instance, you can see Annapurna and Machhapuchhre (fish tail shape) in the north, Dhaulagiri in the west and Lamjung Himal and Manaslu in the east. Pokhara is smaller and much less hectic than Kathmandu. Hence, it is the perfect starting point for our trek.

Then our trail climbs steadily up the side of the valley to Hille (1490m) and after a short climb we reach Tikhedhunga (1565m). Here we get to see Buddhist monks praying in the surrounding monasteries. Also we visit Pashupatinath. This is the most famous Hindu temple in the country that is located on the banks of the holy Bagmati river. Here we see Hindu holy men (sadhus) meditating, pilgrims bathing and occasionally funeral burnings on the ghats.

Furthermore, we visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square. This aquare is a collection of pagoda's and shikhara's. It's a style of temples that are grouped around a fifty-five window palace of brick and wood. On my very first day in Nepal, back in 2013, I met Govinda and we've been best (!) friends ever since. Govinda and I have been on quite some treks in Nepal together and traveled in Sir Lanka and Europe as well. And now we also work together with by Mountain People. Back in the Netherlands I take care of the website and I am always planning a next stay in Nepal. But hey ... what are you up to? :)
