My name is Govinda Dhakal. As a Nepali and outdoor fanatic I proudly welcome you to explore my beautiful country Nepal.
How I got into the travel business
When I was 19 years old, I studied and helped my older brother in his outdoor shop in Thamel, Kathmandu. In the meantime, I was always dreaming of exploring the world. In Thamel, I met travelers from all over the world. They fascinated me with stories about their travels and adventures. When I got the opportunity to start my own business, I opened my own outdoor gear shop.
By having my own shop, I was able to save money and start traveling myself. So, I went abroad for the first time. I chose the Netherlands and made a roadtrip to Belgium and France. All the way to Paris and the Eiffel Tower!
Since I have discovered and felt the joy of traveling myself, I decided to go back to school. I got my license for mountain trekking guide and started my own travel company: By Mountain People! Also known as BMP.
Fast forward … Today, BMP has grown into an experienced, professional trekking agency. We maintain our focus on personal contact, small scale travels and high value.
BMP is located both in the heart of Nepal and Europe. I live in The Netherlands but join my team in Nepal during peak season.
I am beyond excited to take you on an unforgettable adventure in Nepal.
Why I established By Mountain People
By establishing BMP, I wanted to give you the opportunity to not only trek in the Himalayas and to be among the world’s highest mountains. Which is awesome by the way! I also wanted something else. To allow you to get off the beaten tracks, away from mass tourism. And to explore the beauty of Nepal in the best and responsible way possible.
