The greatest Manaslu treks

Manaslu treks are simply ah-mazing. Here, you can trek around the 8,156 m (10,144 ft) high Manaslu, world’s 8th highest mountain. This area only opened to travelers since 1991. It is not a busy region by any means, but it is becoming more popular for its range of scenery, cultural variety and its fledgling lodges.

An even newer part of the Manaslu region is Tsum Valley. This was only opened to trekkers in 2008! The people of Tsum are Tsumbas and Tibetans. Much of their trade is with the Kyirong region of Tibet, which lies across two passes at the head of the Shar Khola Valley. You can visit many interesting places in Tsum Valley, such as Piren Phu (Pigeon Cave), Rachen Nunnery and Mu Monastery.

Why should I trek in the Manaslu region?

Manaslu is much quieter than Everest and Annapurna. The landscapes, rugged trails, and Tibetan culture make it a top choice if you are into an adventure and authentic culture. As you walk through remote villages, and conquer challenging terrains, you will find yourself immersed in a place that’s just out of this world. This is the place to be, if you are seeking a true sense of adventure and personal accomplishment, away from the crowd.

What’s the best season for Manaslu Treks?

Spring and autumn are the best seasons to trek in this region. So, in March, April and May, before monsoon season starts. And in September, October and November, before it gets too cold or snow blocking trails and high passes.

During these two seasons, the weather is relatively stable with clear skies and moderate temperatures. Also, these seasons offer the best visibility, that allow you to savor the panoramic vistas of the Himalayan peaks.
