about this trek

On this amazing route we will trek through rhododendron and bamboo forests with an abundance of wildlife, majestic waterfalls, a chance to bathe in soothing hot springs and of course ... visiting the holy lakes of Gosainkund.

When at Gosainkund, we'll watch sun rise over a multitude of glistening lakes of this sacred pilgrimage site. It is believed that Lord Shiva created this holy lake with his trident. After crossing Laurebinayak pass (4609m) we will also trek along rice fields and once again behold stunning views over the snow-capped Himalayas before heading back to Kathmandu.

alternative options

If 16 days is a bit too long, you might consider doing a part of this route. For instance the Helambu short trek or the Gosainkund short trek. Both take only 6 to 8 days.

On my very first day in Nepal, back in 2013, I met Govinda and we've been best (!) friends ever since. Govinda and I have been on quite some treks in Nepal together and traveled in Sir Lanka and Europe as well. And now we also work together with by Mountain People. Back in the Netherlands I take care of the website and I am always planning a next stay in Nepal. But hey ... what are you up to? :)
