about Lumbini

Lumbini, a place near the border with India, is the legendary birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama who is also known as Buddha. He achieved enlightenment some time around 528 BC and founded Buddhism. Nowadays this historical place is a pilgrimage site with a number of temples, monuments, monasteries, a museum and much more.

Are in you Nepal in April or May? Check with Govinda when there's full moon. Because on that day thousands of hindus come to Lumbini to honor Maya Devi as Rupa Devi, the goddess of fertility and abundance. It's be a unique moment to behold.

Are you in Nepal in an other month? Nepal celebrates many festivals all year long. Find out what's in it for you or contact Govinda.

On my very first day in Nepal, back in 2013, I met Govinda and we've been best (!) friends ever since. Govinda and I have been on quite some treks in Nepal together and traveled in Sir Lanka and Europe as well. And now we also work together with by Mountain People. Back in the Netherlands I take care of the website and I am always planning a next stay in Nepal. But hey ... what are you up to? :)
