What can i expect from this adventure?

The Mohare Danda Trek is the perfect alternative if you want to enjoy the quiet and peaceful mountains. Because this is a new trekking trail that is unknown to many. The route takes you from thick forests to steep ridge trails and high pastures.

Mohare itself is a hilltop station, located along the world’s deepest gorge. Therefore, this trek provides you with the best panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

WHY SHOULD I TREK TO MOHARE DANDA?

Apart from the fantastic landscapes that you can see, you will directly support local communities during the Mohare Danda Trek. These are communities that generally miss the opportunity of doing business by being off the main trail.

Which Places Will I visit?

What does the itinerary look like?

Welcome in Nepal! We will pick you up at the international airport in Kathmandu, and bring you to your hotel in the backpackers area of Thamel.

airport transfer – hotel

After a good night of sleep and hopefully beating the jetlag, we will meet again for a pre-trip meeting. We will introduce you to your mountain guide and we will discuss the itinerary. If you have any questions or requests, please let us know.

Note: please, make sure you bring your passport to the meeting, along with your travel insurance policy. Carry both the original policy and a copy for us. We wil also request you to clear the due balance, if any.

What’s next? You can use this day to adjust to the different timezone, altitude and climate. Also, you can prepare yourself for your trek and do some last shoppings at one of the many outdoor gear shops around your hotel.

breakfast – hotel

Early morning, your mountain guide picks you up from your hotel. Together, you take the bus from Kathmandu to Pokhara. This takes about 6 hours.

Option: To save time, you can opt for a 30-minute flight to Pokhara, instead of taking the bus. This would give you the opportunity to explore this peaceful city by the lake. Contact us for more details.

Today is the beginning of our trek! After breakfast, we drive to Galeshwor in about 3,5 hours. This is the starting point of the trek. After lunch, the trek begins to Bans Kharka. It is about a 3 hours uphill trek, during which we cross the suspension bridge over the Kali Gandaki Gorge, one of the world’s deepest gorges.

After breakfast, we trek to Nangi in about 6 to 7 hours. Along the trail, we will pass beautiful villages, and have stunning views of mountainous landscapes. Also, you will have the opportunity to visit an organic farm school and a Magar settlement.

Today’s trail goes through beautiful forests of oak and rhododendrons with magnificent views of mountains. For instance Machhapuchhre with the shape of a fishtail, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri and Tukuche. In the evening, the glorious sunset from Mohare will be a reward for the long trekking day.

Early morning, around 5 AM we begin our hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m). It takes about an hour to climb to the hill, one of the best Himalayan viewpoints in Nepal. From here we can have a spectacular view over the Himalayan ranges with an amazing sunrise.

After beholding the views we return to Ghorepani for a good breakfast. Then we set off again, off to Tadapani. We climb along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests to Deurali (2,960 m). After that we descend to Banthanti and finally Tadapani.

From Tadapani, we follow the descending trail through the forests to Ghandruk (1,940 m). This village is of the Gurung people, an ethnic group of Nepal. The Gurungs have their own dialect, culture, costume and life style. In addition to that Ghandruk is also home to many Gurkha soldiers. It is a famous trekking destination as it is known for its beautiful mountain views. In the afternoon, we can visit the Annapurna Conservation Office, museums and explore the village.
